I've been so miserable these past 16 weeks that I haven't really soaked in the fact that I'm pregnant. This thought finally made it's way to my brain whilst John and I were buying diapers for Christian. In order to get to Christian's diapers I first need to walk by the newborn sizes. Normally I don't pay any attention to these small diapers as I haven't needed to purchase them in a couple of years. However on this day, I stopped long enough to see the small infant nestled into his mother's arms showcased on the front of the newborn diaper pack. It was like a light bulb went off. Instead of keeping my inner monologue to myself, I loudly proclaimed, "Holy shit John, we're having a baby! We're going to have three kids!" Yes, I know, my inner voice isn't all that profound....whatever. Intellectually I know that I'm pregnant, but I haven't really had a chance to enjoy this pregnancy because of the horrible way I've been feeling. Also, the fact that I'm chasing around 2 kids all day, everyday hasn't really given me a lot of time for reflection. In any case, I'm so excited to be completing our family. John and I are extremely humbled to be blessed with such amazing children. We can't wait for our third little peanut to enter the world. I know that there will be days where I'll be cursing my life and will be begging for help, but that's what Grandparents are for ;) I had my last midwife's appointment this past Friday. Nothing new to report really. We went over diet again. I was told that since I'm not taking prenatals I really need to drink the suggested tea infusions in my homebirth binder. Apparently these infusions are better then the actual prenatals themselves as my body will be able to absorb the nutrients faster/easier since they are coming from a plant source. I haven't written about the boys in a while, so I'll give a quick update: Manny turned 4 on March 2nd, which is still hard to believe. He has really developed into such an amazing little boy. He started preschool last August and absolutely loves it. He only attends on Tuesdays and Thursdays but he asks me everyday if he'll be going to school. Christian will be turning 2 on March 23rd. I swear, this little boy is going to give me grey hair. He is an explorer by nature, and has to have his hands (and mouth) on everything. This past Saturday we were at Great Grandma's house where he broke a thermometer and proceded to eat the contents. Of course everyone freaked out thinking he had just swallowed mercury. After calling poison control we were relieved to find out that they stopped putting mercury in thermometers years ago and that the only thing we needed to do was rinse out his mouth as the red dye leaves a nasty taste. Christian has recently started to potty train himself. We bought a small potty chair for Manny last year. He never used it, but it has become a fixture in our living room. Christian has recently started taking off his diaper and sitting on this chair; sometimes he pees, sometimes he doesn't, but he visits the chair several times a day. Who knows if this is something that he'll continue to do. I'm just impressed that he's showing an interest. That's it for now...I'll try and update soon :) Labels: pregnancy
